The dinosaurs in the first Jurassic Park film were not created by John Hammond and his team. The dinosaurs created them.
Tired of hunting each other after years and years trapped on the island, the dinosaurs (who, after millions of years on Isla Nubla have evolved into super-intelligent creatures) develop tech to grow their own humans for consumption. However, resources start to run low, so they come up with a new plan to draw humans to the island. They create John Hammond, and then, using Inception style tech, they plant the idea in his head of putting a dinosaur theme park on the island, so they’ll have a regular source of food via the visitors. It didn’t quite work out the way they planned because they weren’t very subtle whilst eating the visitors, and they forgot to factor in the part where the humans run like the clappers and abandon the island as soon as they start eating them, but, hey, no plan is without its flaws.
