I’ve had the weekend off from my read through of A Fifth Visitor, and now it’s back to it. I’m strangely enjoying the editing so far. Maybe by my tenth reread and edit I won’t feel quite the same.

First Read Through
The first read through of A Fifth Visitor or How Scrooge Kept Christmas is going well. One of the side characters needs to be brought down to earth a bit (at the moment he’s a bit too much of a comic relief character and takes some of the drama out of the scenes). Some scenes are a bit dialogue-heavy as well, but that’s the point of a first draft, isn’t it. Get your ideas down and filter out all the nonsense in the edits. I’m actually quite enjoying the editing. Maybe it’s a sign that the first draft isn’t a complete mess. I’ll keep you updated.

The Final Chapter
Scorching hot day today. It was quite bizarre writing the final chapter of ‘A Fifth Visitor’ under a parasol in the garden. Especially considering that it’s set on Christmas Eve.
